Apocalypse Meow
It's been awhile and we've missed you.
We are reaching out today to ask for your help. Many of you were readers of our old weekly e-newsletters about local Kansas City music. You got to know us, our love of local music and perhaps remember that we often wrote about one of our favorite bands – The Gaslights. Hopefully, many of you have been out to catch their shows as they continue to rock Kansas City. Abigail Henderson, singer and songwriter for the The Gaslights was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer in July. This is our opportunity to give back to her for all the joy of music she has brought us. On November 7th (Midwestern Musical Company), November 8th (Davey's Uptown) and November 9th (Record Bar) there will be a benefit for Abigail and breast cancer awareness events. This is a hot ticket! It's a great cause and the line-up is loaded with great music and includes several reunions – Parlay, Sandoval and Sister Mary Rotten Crotch!!
Visit the benefit website at www.apocalypsemeow.net for more info and full line-up.
There are lots of great things in store. Including live music, auctions, raffles and a bake sale.
Local musician and amp builder Paul Marchman – Scarlett Amps -has built an amp specifically for this event. The Amp, aptly named The Abby, will be raffled off the weekend of the benefit. Raffle tickets are only $1 and are available now. Even if you don't play the guitar surely you know someone who does. What a great gift this would make!
Check out the documentary Tony Ladesich (Pendergast) did about Paul Marchman (Shaker Hoods) and his kickass Scarlett Amps. Not only is this a beautifully done piece it includes music by local band Faster Than Hell and still photography by Slimm.

It seems odd to say that a blog about cancer can be entertaining but check this out – Abigail's Blog about her experiences with this battle. This lady truly has a way with words beyond what she puts to music.
